As will all log furniture, it is subject to the natural process of checking, which occurs as the wood releases moisture, and normally happens across or through the annual growth rings. All unfinished pieces will weather gently to an attractive gray color. If you prefer the ripe wood color, these pieces can painted, stained or lacquered to prevent the natural color change.
